Shift Supervisor

The Shift Supervisor is responsible to the Senior Turan Drilling and Engineering Company Representative (Rig Superintendent) for the day-to-day operation supervision and for the health and safety of all persons working under their authority. The Shift Supervisor is accountable for drilling operations and other related activities that may be on going at the time, ensuring that safety and operations are carried out in compliance with Client and Company requirements. A vacancy has been raised externally for a Shift Supervisor position as part of the offshore Business Unit and is available for Azerbaijani citizens only.

The Shift Supervisor role is responsible for overseeing drilling operations and ensuring compliance with safety and operational procedures. The position reports to the Senior Turan Drilling and Engineering Company Representative (Rig Superintendent) and requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to workplace safety.

You and the Role
We are looking for a skilled Shift Supervisor with extensive experience in offshore drilling operations, particularly in Extended Reach Drilling (ERD) and High-Pressure/High-Temperature (HP/HT) wells. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supervising drilling activities, managing well control situations, and ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant rig operations. Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential for success in this role.

Primary responsibilities

• Liaise closely with their Rig Superintendent on all key issues in a timely and appropriate manner.
• Supervise drilling operations, maintenance and other related activities on the installation ensuring that such operations are carried out efficiently and in compliance with Company operating procedures and Company Safety Policy.
• Ensure that health and safety at work and accident prevention are continuously brought to the attention of all employees by means of job supervision, instruction and training.
• Assist Rig Superintendent by completing all required drilling and safety (or platform) reports in a timely manner, such as Drilling Report, Operational Plan, Engine Report, Machinery Report, Pump Report and other records whilst on tour.
• Provide advice and guidance to Drillers on all operational matters as may be required.
• Responsible for the performance management of the personnel under their authority to ensure standards of behavior and performance expected by the Company.
• Ensure that the Company Safety Policy is fully implemented and adhered to by all persons under their authority
• Ensure compliance to all relevant Company management systems and where applicable client procedures
• Supervise and record maintenance, repair or replacement tasks in accordance with Company’s Planned Preventative Maintenance System.
• Ensure that all employees under their authority are correctly instructed in the procedures to be adopted in the event of emergencies.
• Carry out competence assessment in respect of departmental staff, performance evaluations and identify long term career potential etc.
• Ensure that all employees under their authority have sufficient information and knowledge to carry out their job without endangering any persons, plant or equipment and are adequately trained and experienced for a particular task before they are instructed to carry it out.
• Direct personnel on the execution of the work plans safely and efficiently
• Monitor, supervise and coach any Service company or Vendor company representatives that may be involved in the operations on the rig.
• Laisse with client supervisors on any matters relating to the safe operation of the installation.
